General Eligibility

All service members and veterans applying for scholarships must be able to answer yes to the following questions:

  1. Are you a  veteran with an Honorable discharge or a similar Guard/Reserve separation letter with equivalent status?

  2. Are you a current service member and current member of the National Guard or Reserves?

  3. Are you willing to meet with other veterans in the program either in person or via zoom quarterly?

  4. Barring injury or extreme circumstances, will you be able to commit to regular* attendance at your matched academy? 

  5. We believe in following up with our program members, will you commit to monthly follow-up calls or zoom meetings?

  6. We need to know your goals, personality, and current health condition, are you willing to complete a comprehensive assessment with a case manager and be willing to complete an individual development plan?

  7. We will also follow up with your academy to check in on your progress, are you willing to submit yourself to a progress meeting with your academy at the 6-month and at the end of the program?

*Regular Attendance is defined as a minimum of once a week, without more than 4 unexcused/unannounced absences. (We know life happens, just let your academy know and keep us in the loop as well)

  • Section 1: Demographic information, program selection, and bio/goals.

    • The Programs​

      • Fellowship - is for all veterans/service members looking to get started in grappling or would like to get back into it after either a layoff or move. ​

      • Scholarship - is mostly for veterans/service members with no experience, however, exceptions are available for participants with financial hardships or other special barriers to entry. 

      • Mentorship - is for active practitioners at an academy but would like to give back and help others through their grappling journey.

  • Section 3: Brief Health Assessment

  • Section 4: Background Check

Our goal is for all to have the opportunity to achieve their goals and grow in a healthy and safe manner. We actively partner with the VA and other veteran service organizations that provide additional services, including: mental health support, substance abuse support, employment assistance, and so much more.
